Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is a surgical procedure performed to address aesthetic issues with the eyelids and rejuvenate the appearance of the eyes. The procedure is safe, effective, and offers natural-looking results. Plastic Surgeons Dr. Pfeifer and Dr. Adil Ceydeli utilize a special surgical technique that provides enhanced results.

Our plastic surgery office is located in Lynn Haven, just north of Panama City, on Northwest Florida’s gorgeous Emerald Coast.

The Benefits of Eyelid Surgery

When the upper eyelids begin to sag, or wrinkling and puffiness occurs beneath the eyelids it can detract from the natural beauty of a person’s face. Blepharoplasty can be performed to correct these issues. And give the eyelids a smoother and more youthful appearance.

Blepharoplasty can be used to correct wrinkled eyelid skin, sagging upper eyelids, and the accumulation of excess fat underneath the lower eyelids that can give the area a puffy appearance.

Who are the Best Candidates for Eyelid Surgery?

Candidates for our Panama City Eyelid Surgery would be patients with the following conditions:

  • Patients with wrinkles under the eyes  – Oftentimes, due to age, we lose elastin and collagen under the eyes, leading to the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles when smiling and blinking.
  • Puffy Eye bags – Over time, diminished skin elasticity and the protrusion of underlying fat of the lower eyelid can have a negative impact on the eye’s support structures. When untreated this can lead to the appearance of “baggy” and fatigued eyes
  • Sunken Eyes – As we age, the lower eyes can lose support and facial fat from your cheeks can move downward which oftentimes causes the eyes to look sunken or droopy.
  • Drooping upper eyelids – The soft tissue in your eyes begins to weaken with age. As this happens the upper eyelids begin to droop. If untreated, this can lead to squinted eyes and a change in vision.

What to do before your eyelid surgery

The first step is to get in touch by either giving us a phone call or filling out a form on our contact page. Our compassionate staff will reach out to you to book an appointment with one of our surgeons. During your consultation, either Dr. Ceydeli or Dr. Duong will listen to your aesthetic desires and provide their expert recommendations.

It’s very important that you’re honest about your expectations and medical history. An open dialogue always leads to the best surgery results. After the surgeons have provided their thorough consultation, they will answer all questions. If you’re comfortable with their recommendations, your surgery is booked. They will provide you with pre opt instructions and guidelines on medications, drinking, and smoking.

How is a Blepharoplasty Performed?

Blepharoplasty involves removing excess skin from either the upper or the lower eyelids, together with any superfluous muscle. This involves restoring and tightening connections between the eyelid skin and the eye-opening muscles, which have stretched out over the years. Protruding fat from the upper and lower lids often requires either removal or restraining.

Eyelid operations are often independent procedures. Occasionally just the upper lids or only the lower lids need surgery. Sometimes only fat is removed. Commonly a simple brow lift suffices and does away with the need for upper lid surgery, other times creation of neat and precise upper lid folds by anchoring eyelid skin to deeper structures is necessary.

Dr. Ceydeli is the BEST! Very professional and compassionate. Took plenty of time to explain my procedure and to let me ask questions. Absolutely love his staff as well. They are all fantastic. Had no complications, healed very well with minimal pain. My self-confidence is so much better, I love the results, couldn’t be happier.

Combining Your Blephoaropasty with other Procedures

A combination operation, corono-canthopexy, is usually recommended to enhance and improve the overall outcome with lower lid surgery. Corono-canthopexy is a frontal lift (brow lift) combined with lower lid tightening. This combined procedure restores tone, tilt, and a youthful almond shape to the lower lids and aperture, something blepharoplasty alone rarely does.

Dr. Ceydeli’s Unique Blepharoplasty Technique

Dr. Ceydeli’s methods give a crisp, more stylized, and deeper set upper lid fold, and a toned, youthful, and almond-shaped lower lid, which remains youthful longer than traditional eyelid operations. The reason most surgeons continue the old operation is unfamiliarity with the advanced, more time-consuming updated techniques.

Recovering from Eyelid Surgery

Swelling and bruising are common following blepharoplasty. Ice packs can help to reduce swelling and medication can be provided to help reduce discomfort. It typically takes around 14 days for the swelling and bruising to subside. After this time, most people are able to return to a majority of their normal activities. Results will continue to improve over the coming months.
