Hair loss may be due to a number of reasons; including genetic, hormonal, aging, trauma, infection, medications, and systemic illnesses as well as recent major surgeries affecting the one’s immune system.
Regardless of the cause, the end result of losing hair and getting bald may be devastating. However with the recent advances in hair restoration techniques, particularly with the introduction of follicular unit hair transplants, the hair loss problem can be addressed in a much more effective way with more natural results.
During his aesthetic fellowship with Dr. Flowers in Hawaii, Dr. Ceydeli not only mastered the techniques to create beautiful eyelid shape, but also inherited the secrets of eyelash transplant from his mentor, which started his hair transplant career.
He then adopted the follicular unit hair transplant for his hair restoration, which involves fine dissection of the individual hair follicles under the microscope. With the advantage of the microscope, the hair grafts are prepared tiny, so the grafts can be placed on the donor site with the smallest incisions possible (1-1.3 mm incisions), which in turn leaves minimal to no scarring on the donor site with natural results. By preparing the hair grafts under the microscope, certain tissues around the hair can be kept precisely to further improve the graft take and survival.
Dr. Ceydeli is a board-certified plastic surgeon, and is well trained in other aspects of hair restoration surgery as well, including scalp reduction, tissue expansion, and various scalp flaps. He individualizes the techniques to be used according to patient’s needs, and in certain cases he uses a combination of hair restoration techniques to achieve the best results.
Dr. Ceydeli performs the follicular unit hair transplant in the office setting under local anesthesia. Most patients resume normal activity in a day or two. Tiny crusts will form where the transplants have been placed and usually shed in 4 to 7 days. The small hairs in the newly transplanted grafts normally shed within 2 to 4 weeks after the procedure, and permanent hair growth begins within 6 months and full hair growth within 9 to 12 months.
Our plastic surgery clinic is located in Panama City, on Northwest Florida's Emerald Coast.
