Cell Biology/Histology: Tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, routine staining, immunohistochemical staining, analysis by light microscopy, electron microscopy, and confocal microscopy, microscopic photography and developing.
Molecular Biology: Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), in situ hybridization, DNA and RNA extraction and isolation, knowledge of spectrophotometer use, oligo synthesis and labeling, DNA hybridization, Northern blotting, protein extraction and isolation, Western blotting, reagent preparation.
Animal Experience: Rat handling experience: injections, surgeries, tissue sampling, daily monitoring, sacrificing (Chronic Septic Rat Fecal-Agar Pellet Model).
Biostatistics and Experimental Design: Knowledge of JMP statistical software use (SAS Institute, Cary, NC).
